Dear WLC members, partners and friends
As part of the activity of the 'The Day After Coalition' project in Tiberias, a community development process is being carried out in neighborhood 'A' based on the 'community neighborhood' model of OR movement. This model is based on seeing the person at the center and strengthening local, independent, and pro-active local leadership. As part of the process with the residents and in cooperation with the Municipality of Tiberias, it was decided that the most urgent need is to provide a response in informal education for children and youth in the community. Moreover, the residents raised the need for the development of public spaces, environmental awareness, and sustainability as a tool to improve the social aspect and strengthen community resilience.
The first phase of the program is cleaning and establishment of a community garden and the restoration of the garden-campus path. It has been done in cooperation with the Tamar kindergarten, the Local Community Center and of the parents of pre-school children in the neighborhood. This action effects other community initiatives led by the residents and creates an impact for more than 500 residents of the neighborhood.
